To our guests,

Thank you so much for the wonderful e-mails and comments regarding your stay at our cabin in beautiful Pulaski County, Virginia. It is such a pleasure to read your comments. We really appreciate your feedback. Our guests are terrific!

(Updated August 22, 2008)

You have a wonderful and peaceful place here. We enjoyed every minute from the fog rolling in the morning on the front porch to the stars at night on the back porch. The trips we took included the Blue Ridge parkway, Dixie Caverns, and a boat trip around Claytor Lake. Wish we could have stayed longer but we will be back again!. The G’s

What a wonderful place you have here. D and I got away from our regular world and loved finding this lovely cabin! We are so close we would love to come back often through out the year. We drove on Saturday all about the countryside to Roanoke and Fincastle in search of adventure. Next time we will stay right here! We arrived back in the early evening greeted by two deer! Lovely. Thanks! D & R B

We had a really great time at the cabin. It is a wonderful relaxing place full of deer, birds, and the most butterflies we have ever seen in one place. The family enjoyed going down the road and picking blackberries. Our 1-1/2 year son couldn’t get enough! My husband made a tasty pie from them. Our daughters loved the front porch and swinging and rocking. Our dog Ruby was so glad to come with us and have so much room to run. Thanks for being pet friendly! When we ventured out we found lots of great family things to do. We hiked a bit of the bike trail and walked over a big bridge which the kids loved. We went to Fairy Stone State Park (2 hour drive) which was amazing. We took a short hike and then swam at the best kids’ beach we have ever come across. They have an area roped off for kids with floating turtles, beaver, snake, slides, and other fun toys the kids can jump and play on. Then we went and searched for our own fairy stones, which was fun and addicting. I would also recommend going to Fort Chiswell Animal Park in Max Meadows. The kids loved it. You ride in a bus with no windows and feed animals that are free to roam—bison, camel, deer, zebra. Also a petting zoo! Thanks for a great place and we will definitely be back again. R, H, R, J, L, and Ruby!

You really don’t know how much we have enjoyed the cabin. It was very beautiful and serene, peaceful, and romantic. We loved seeing the deer, birds, butterflies, and horses. At night we were serenaded by the lone voice of the whippoorwill. We hope that we will be able to come back soon! Very soon! B & J

PS We left a little kettle for boiling water for tea.

Our second trip to the cabin, and the stars were just as bright as we remembered. Thank you for sharing what will surely continue to be a fixture in our future. J & S

PS Lucky, the dog, had a great time again as well. Thanks for being pet friendly.

Thank you. It is a wonderful, clean, peaceful cabin. I highly recommend to all. We hope to be back in the future. PR and family

Enjoyed our stay in your cabin and biking the New River Trail! H & M J

Things we liked the most:

Every time we went somewhere we saw something just as beautiful as the last—always something new. Thank you for the tranquility of it all. W &L D & J

Every vacation has a certain personality—this one was planned as a respite from a long winter in spring—2 particularly frantic spells in our medical and legal careers, and most difficult, the difficulty of my dad having a stoke. Life has been work, travel to help my folks, back to work for many months. The beautiful mountains of southwest Virginia have always been a favorite and seemed to be a perfect spot for plenty of outdoor challenges, as will as relaxing on the porch afterwards. We were thrilled to find a cabin that fit the bill, and accepted our 85 lb lb golden retriever, Corrina! We were thrilled to arrive and discover such a beautiful and peaceful place—we have ridden the entire New River Trial, both ways and have enjoyed every mile! We have relaxed, read, and visited on both porches—so peaceful—we also cracked open our best bottle of wine on night one when my brother called to announce his engagement! All in all, your cabin provided a wonderful space to reclaim peace and joy—Everything about the cabin, the land, the view, and our experience was lovely. Thanks so much! J, L, & C

PS Corrina slept on the hearthstone J She really felt at home.

What a wonderful weekend we’ve had here at your beautiful cabin! We’ve grilled out, played games, cooked, talked, relaxed, and biked! We had a terrific time biking the New River Trail—Wow—What a beautiful trail! Thanks so much for the cabin. It was just right! We hope to come back and visit again. A, M, C, J

Thank you for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful peaceful place! My Mother and Father loved it and my son and daughter-in-law came out to see us, too—and they want to come out with us again. Truly delightful—it’s the perfect place and we enjoyed it. We did 6 miles fo the New River Trail and enjoyed that also. We’ll be back! K & D W; J & G S

Our two night stay was great. Only one problem, we should have stayed four nights. We have stayed in the area before and we love your place. We liked the others too, but this was more to our style. Thanks Paige with the help on a very short notice. Love the way you do business! Had a great time. R & S W PS Our little boy had a great time. His nose was in high gear the whole time!

We have now stayed in all three of your cabins and each is wonderful! What a gift to have a special place to come when visiting our son at Virginia Tech. He is a freshman cadet and greatly appreciates a weekend get-a-way. The C Family

Thanks so much for the use of your cabin. It is lovely and feels very homey. We expecially enjoyed the great front porch and swing and spent lots of time out there with a book. C, M, Z, R, & L M

Paige and Tom, thank you so much for providing such a beautiful, clean, and cozy cabin. My friend from my hometown joined me here. We met half way to spend time together; since my move south, we don’t get that much chance to see each other. We plan on making this our girl get-a-way each year now. WE enjoyed the weekend here and will maybe bring the family. Everything was here—well provided and very clean—thanks again. SM & JC

We had a wonderful time! Just what we needed. We will be back! C & T

Thank you so much for our stay in your lovely cabin. We had a wonderful time enjoying a relaxed weekend. We would probably say that the dogs had the best time out of all of us! They even made a friend…a pretty shepherd that decided to hang out for a couple of days. We did find the owner! We loved everything about this place and will definitely be returning! Thanks again! The Q’s & The M’s

Fabulous! Pretty much says it all about our 2 nd time here at your beautiful cabin. We had so much fun last year that we decided to return again this year with our 9 yr old daughter and our 9 month old dachshund. Our daughter loved it here! She and daddy practiced softball and explored around. We all enjoyed visiting Dixie Caverns and VA Tech during the day and cuddling by the fire, playing games, and watching TV at night. Happy healthy New Year wishes to you both!! The H family

Thank you Tom and Paige for such a wonderful place you have here. My family enjoyed a relaxed and laid back New Year’s holiday. We enjoyed the nice yard, beautiful scenery, sittin’ out on the porch, and family barbeque. We played Monopoly for hours, watched the Disney Channel, drank hot chocolate, listened to a local classic oldies radio station, and played cd’s. You haven’t lived until you’ve experienced a real log cabin stay, listening to Alabama’s “ Mountain Music” on cd. We enjoyed the nice fire and cozy atmosphere. This is just the get-a-way we needed! Our 2 labs loved playing fetch in the great back yard. That was one of their favorite treats. I truly appreciate all of the great attention paid to detail that you’ve given to this cabin. Great customer service and satisfaction! You are saved in my; favorites and we will be back! The B family

Wow, what a wonderful experience. The cabin was superb and everything about it—the silence, the stars, the big orange pale sun, and the trees. We expected Robin Hood to appear at any moment. Memories we shall never forget. S, S, & K D

Our meeting here was with old and new friends. We imagined ourselves in a romantic cabin with haunted woods in a homestead in Scandinavia on vacation with our not-yet-born children. All of our creative musings located us in this cabin in the woods. We sat by the fire, listened to Christmas carols, drank red wine, cooked pancakes, talked of the past and future—new marriages and engagements, college pranks, traveling stories. The old, the young and those not yet come into being. We long to return here with more stories from the past. Thank you for providing us with a place to share these things with each other. C & M P; H H and BB

We went to the Monster museum at Natural Bridge. It was a little scary. We also saw the caverns. We hiked on the trail at Natural Bridge and it had an Indian Village. I got a medicine bag made of deer skin. We passed the lost river and we stuck our hands in it—it was freezing! When we got back to the cabin we played cards. It was a very big day. Thanks for everything! A Z and her family

Our stay here was great! Beautiful, clean cabin and the area is wonderful. Really enjoyed biking on the New River Trial! We are heading home via the Skyline Drive. M & A B

Our weekend trip is one we have intended for over five years. This trip in particular is special to us because of those we shared it with…To start we’d like to say “thank you” for giving us the opportunity to meet here in your amazing little cabin. We were able to rest, hike, fish, eat, roast marchmallows, play cranium, stare at the stars, and most importantly share time with our best friends. Hope to be back! M, A, C, S

Hard to leave but we will be back early in November. We all enjoyed the weekend. My mom down to our new grandson-4 generations-what a treat! R & J and family

Loved the cabin and all the home touches you put into it. We will definitely be back. Enjoyed ourselves immensely. A & P O

Had a very relaxing time at your cabin. Stars were great. Look forward to returning to your super clean cabin soon. D & N PS Our Aussie enjoyed it too!

The stay was fantastic. Haven’t had a more enjoyable vacation ever. Pleasant and relaxing. Thanks, The E’s

Your cabin is beautiful. Was pleased to see all the little extras here—it made it feel complete! Had a relaxing time with family members we don’t see often enough. Thank you for everything J. The E’s

Thoroughly enjoyable! Visited various NRV sites including Claytor Lake (great beach) and Radford (canoeing on New River—6 miles). Bonfire, marshmallows, and great fresh air. What a respite from the heat and humidity of South Carolina and Washington, DC. M, H, H, & S

We had a pleasant stay in the cabin! Thanks! The N family

We had a wonderful honeymoon here at the cabin! This place is so comfortable and relaxing…and this cabin is adorable! It’s just like being in a life-size dollhouse! We enjoyed hiking on the trail, and going into downtown Roanoke for some shopping. Thank you so much, everything was perfect. Can’t wait to come back! J & S

We had a great time in the cabin. Our toddler daughter enjoyed the nature around, with bunnies and deer in sight and so many butterflies and birds. It will be hard to adjust to a “working life” in the city again. A, O, and A

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! What an excellent way to spend a long weekend. The H’s

What a beautiful cabin and setting. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful two nights (next time, we will definitely stay longer). The back deck is truly a birdwatcher’s paradise. I’ve never seen so many Blue Grosbeaks in one place! The starry skies were breathtaking, with the lightening bugs competing to put on a better show. And thanks so much for being dog friendly. Our boy had a great time! J & S

Thank you Paige—we had an enjoyable visit to the mountains. D & L S

We enjoyed it! The C’s

Thank you for such a nice place to stay! The C’s

The Red Pants Riders just want to say “Thank you!" We will be back!

A very nice place to spend our 11 th wedding anniversary. I spent a lot of time with family in Grayson and Carrol Counties as a child, and many happy years at Virginia Tech. My wife went to Radford. We had a great time these 2 days without our 3 children (4 if you count the dog!) It was nice visiting places we used to visit 10-15 years ago, even if my old “home” Norris Hall is closed. Very sad what happened at VT, but all will be right again soon. The Ns

Wow, this place is amazing. A little far away from civilization, but worth it when we returned to the little cabin. We played Frisbee with the whole family, grilled steak and seafood, and watched the stars. I loved the scenery along with my family. It was great! Thanks! The Ss

The cabin was perfect for our honeymoon. We live by the beach so the quiet country life gave us time to sit and relax. We ventured over to Gatewood Park and spent a few hours on the lake. Being by ourselves is what we were looking for and we found it here. The memories we made here will stay with us forever. Not only because it’s our honeymoon but also because it’s the last getaway we will get before being deployed overseas. Enjoy this cabin and treat it well so we can return once we return to the states! T & M

Thanks for a great stay in the cabin. Per usual our vacation ended too soon. We had a great time with our 2 dogs, Gerry and Kermit. They loved hanging out on the porch, guarding the cabin from deer, etc. It’s so nice to be able to have our “children” join us for vacation. We visited Virginia Tech-beautiful campus! I would highly recommend visiting Floyd Country Store in Floyd. Friday nights they have a Bluegrass Jamboree from 6:30-10:30, about an hour’s drive but worth it! We left our wildlife puzzle behind in the bedroom closet for others to enjoy. A & D

We beach folks were thoroughly delighted to awaken to a snow covered landscape, blue skies and unbelievable quiet. After sitting by the fire and eating our oats, we checked out all the good literature provided by our hosts. Friday night after our arrival, we decided to drive into Galax for some local music at the Rex Theatre. Were we ever delighted to hear the Zephyr Ligtening Bolts from Pleasant Ridge, NC! Don’t miss this free event held every Thursday? And Friday? starting at 8 pm. The quick bluegrass tunes pulled the audience off their seats to dance the two step and show off their clogging skills. Although the weather did not cooperated for biking, we did venture out for some hiking along the rail–to-trail path, and then dinner at a B&B suggested by the owner of the bookstore next to the Rex: The Journey’s End Restaurant at Daris-Bourne Inn 276-773-9384. J & B

We came down from NYC where it wasn’t quite spring yet and got lucky with 3 days of sun and temps in the 70s-80s. On our many hikes/walks we encountered a great variety of creatures emerging from hibernation—box turtles, garter snakes, newts , salamanders, tadpoles. The birds were spectacular as well—owls, an eagle, hawks, woodpeckers and tons of warblers. This is a beautiful house and setting. We hope to be back again someday soon. Thank you. J, M, J, & L

Paige and Tom, Thank you very much for providing a wonderful mix of old charm and modern convenience! We celebrated our 36 th anniversary with our beloved mutt Trixie. We will be back if possible! Best to you and yours. The Ps

P & T, Our children rescued nearly 2 dozen ladybugs and took them to the bathroom for a nice drink. They also made a bed for the ladybugs out of TP!! Cabin is really nice. Had a nice visit. Did a lot of reading and warming by the fire.

When we first walked in the door, my first thought was “Wow, the pictures just don’t do this place justice!” We loved just sitting around in front of the fire on the chilly winter nights. We loved driving through the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway stopping to take in the breath taking vista from Lover’s Leap on Highway 58. Then, Sunday morning, one daughter got to see snow falling for the first time. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful place for our family to reconnect. J, A, S, & A

What a shock when we walked in! This cabin is beautiful-and a fantastic location. The three dogs had a wonderful time. It was so nice to get away from the hectic life of northern VA. Already looking to book for April. Thank you Paige and Tom for letting us rent this wonderful place. J, J, S, G, M, & B

Christmas 2006! We had a great time with our kids and dogs and cat. Hiking was great, sitting out at the campfire was great. We have made great memories here. Hope to come back soon. Thank you for such a great place to stay. L, T, B, B, C, K, S, & Z

Thanksgiving 2006—Hiking at the Cascades, going to wineries, and best of all the Virginia Tech football game. What a wonderful way to spend the Thanksgiving weekend. Your cabin is such a cute place and centrally located to do it all. Thanks again for a comfortably cozy cabin and making this a very memorable weekend. G & J

Thank you so much for opening your cabin to us. The weather was amazing, mid-70s and sunny. We hiked, explored the mountains, walked around Blacksburg, wine-tasted in Floyd. The dog had a blast running around in the woods! Thanks again for the much needed R& . C, S & P

Thanks for helping make our 20 th anniversary a special one. Although I came down with a terrible cold and lost my voice it was just nice to sit in front of the fire and relax. We now live on the Eastern Shore of VA, after moving from the country of upstate NY and we miss the mountains more than we could say. So coming here is definitely a breath of fresh air…thank you for sharing this cozy little cabin. It is beautifully decorated and well made—very impressive. We enjoyed our weekend immensely and all the info/brochures you have—we have used them as our guides to places we wanted to see. Hope we get the chance to come back again—and bring other family members. We will definitely recommend your place to family/friends. Thanks again. R & N F

Thank you!

M & R H

We were lucky enough to have six days here to spend a much needed vacation from work. The cabin is wonderful and being able to take our Bernese Mountain dog with us made it extra special. He enjoyed meeting all 7 labs next door. Didn’t make it over to see all the puppies. The weather was fantastic! We biked NR Trail from:

All different and great rides. We drove down to Mt Rodgers and hiked the Mt Rodgers Trail. We also brought our sea kayak and spent time paddling towards the lake. Hope to be back again soon! Would love to come for cross-country skiing! J & J

Two deer welcomed us when we pulled in! John-Boy, our Great Dane, met the labs on the other side of the fence. Beautiful country side! Awesome cabin! Just the right size. Nobody mentioned that they like the apple tree. I reckon the deer come to eat the apples. My wife liked the chair collection. All that’s missing is a Moose head on the wall! Ha ha! Thank you! J & M

We spent 2 nights here, 3 couples, very relaxing and peaceful. Sitting on the front proch is the best. We played a game with dominoes called Chicken Foot!

After a long 6 hour drive from Pittsburgh PA we were overjoyed to arrive at The Cabin. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice. The Cabin is a marvelous secluded retreat away from all the hustle and bustle we are used to, with all the amenities you could ask for. Monday we rode the NR Bike Trail from Foster Falls to Ivanhoe. The bridge at Ivanhoe was under repair so our journey was cut short. We rode over to Claytor Lake, and got a little lost on the ride home. Tuesday we rode from Byllesby Dam to Fries. What a wonderful bike trail. I wish we lived closer . Today is our last day here, and it is raining. We had planned on hiking part of the Appalachian Trail today. Instead I think we’ll watch movies and do nothing! GO STEELERS! W & S

Dear Paige, Wow! What an amazing cabin. All the little touches were great. We felt right at home. It was a great way to spend Labor Day weekend and to enjoy a Tech game. Go Hokies! We will be back many, many times. K&K C

P.S. You were also very pleasant to do business with! A much better way to book a vacation than using a hotel!

Dear Paige, We love your cabin. Thank you for all the thoughtful little things (like salt, pepper, oil & hand soap) that you don’t see often when renting cabins. The girls loved riding horses at Foster Falls livery. We rented a boat at Claytor Lake, played on the beach and biked to Foster Falls (long ride!) on the N.R. trail. The cool nights let us turn off the AC and open the window—what a wonderful breeze coming off the mountain! We read on the porch, grilled out and enjoyed the sounds of crickets and tree frogs. Our dog loved being with her pack on vacation instead of staying in a kennel. Thank you for letting dogs stay. On our last night here the sky was crystal clear so I made a fire in the firepit and watched for shooting stars. Thanks for the hospitality! A J

Dear Paige—Thank you so much, such a nice place to get away. L & J Q

Dear Paige and Tom, We had a wonderful time in your lovely cabin!:) We will be definitely come back, and look forward to renting your other properties. Thanks for a great weekend! G & P

This was a great stay. 2 dads with 2 boys. We had a really good 3 days. We’ll be back! A.L. & C.G.

We enjoyed our time here with family—our first reunion in a long while. Thank you for taking care of everything—quite cozy and comfortable. I’m sure we will be back! The Ps

We have enjoyed our stay here at your cozy cabin. We have enjoyed grilling out, swinging on the deck swings, building a fire in the firepit. Your cabin is very nicely furnished with room enough for the 4 of us. Just a few things we have enjoyed are: biking at Foster Falls, hiking the Seven Sisters, and hiking The Cascades N of Blacksburg. Cabin rental is the way to go! It made our stay very homey! It was nice to meet you, Paige and Tom, and to put a face to our rental! Even thought it rained on our last day we went to the Cascades on faith while we were going to do the 4 mile hike. God cleared up the rain and we were able to do the hike and what a beautiful hike it was—so worthwhile with all the scenery and beautiful waterfalls!! We are so glad this hike worked out!! Our kids and us loved our stay here in our cabin!! It is a beautiful area here!! May God continue to bless you for making this available for people like us—especially the affordability! We hope our paths cross again! K & E S

We had a great time away from cell phones and email. We all caught up on much needed sleep and lost track of time. Day trips included two to VT, Roanoke, Foster Falls, and a drive along the Blue Ridge Pkway. We walked and biked the trail, swam in the New River and the younger 3 kids rode horses. We picked blackberries along the driveway and made cobbler. The F”s

We came here for the K Family Reunion. There was 28 of us staying in the 3 cabins. We have all had a great time here. The weather here is perfect with the mountain breezes in the morning and evening. We visited the animal park the first day, on the 4 th we just had our own picnic and fireworks display in front of the cabin where it was open and had a fire going also. We went to see museums on Wed due to the rain, took a trip to Mt. Airy which was so interesting—loved that Andy Griffith! We ate lunch at Barneys (they have great hamburgers) just to let the next people know. Friday was a day at Foster Falls! The kids loved the water but a little too cold for Grandpaw and Grandma so we came back early to cook dinner for everyone. We would love to see this place in the Fall when the trees leaves turn. Everyone had had a good time! We really appreciate the hospitality of the folks here. They are super nice. It’s been great to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and be here to enjoy the restful atmosphere. This cabin is great with all the conveniences of all we needed to make the stay so easy. Thank you so much for all you did to make this a memorable trip. PS. We have seen does and fawns and grouse while here. What a great experience. They are so beautiful!

Thank you for all the extras at the cabin. We had two families meet here—one from Tacoma, Washington and the other from Charlotte NC. We spent a day at the beach at Claytor Lake State Park; biked on the New River Trail 2 days (to Draper and to Foster Falls); barbequed, walked along the creek; and spent lots of time rocking on the front porch especially when the fireflies came out. My six year old daughter loved catching them. Both my daughters (6 & 2) enjoyed building a fort in the loft and wanted to play with your collection of chairs (good thing they were up high!) We love the feel and decor of the cabin and hope to come back again sometime—would love to be here when the fall leaves are changing. LS

The saying “time goes fast when you’re having fun!!” certainly applies to our very short vacation here at The Cabin! Help! I need a week of this! At Least! You really have done a great job of decorating and all was so clean and well-kept. Thanks for a relaxing peaceful visit. PS Love those little chairs! And-enjoyed all-but like the glider best! J J & J

Thank you very much, we loved the firepit and we also met the neighbors and their cute puppies! The family and I had a great time this weekend and we enjoyed hiking and biking! The yard was huge and fun to play in. The cabin was nice and cozy! The dogs loved it too! L.W.

We think this is one of the best cabins we ever rented. The place is so peaceful at the edge of the woods and the large meadow in front where the deer grazed every morning and night. Thank you for providing all the nature books which helped us to find places to hike and paddle canoes. The drive to Big Bend Picnic Area was lined with Mountain Laurels, rhododendron and orange flame azaleas. Breathtaking! The kitchen is well furnished and we like to cook! T G

This cabin exceeded all our expectations, it was in great condition when we arrived, very clean and organized. We got to meet 4 of your furry neighbors, the labs, Bonnie, Abby and company. The plates in the living room shelf made much more sense after that encounter. The surrounding area is full of character and spirit, the hills and trees greeted us in the morning while the moon lulled us into its center of presence in the evenings. We will never forget our time here together, etched in our minds, the finest, sweetest residue. We will always taste it, beckoning us back. T.

Our week long stay was great! Saw all sorts of wild life-deer, snakes, butterflies, dogs, and birds of every color (so glad we had a good pair of binoculars!) It was so cool having bonfires in the front yard in the evenings Being able to see the stars at night was a real treat. We spent our days basking and swimming at the New River and our evenings at this awesome cabin. It made for a great vacation.

Visit certainly was not long enough. Cabin was very impressive. We truly enjoyed ourselves as we were all here spending time getting to know one another better! We will be back for sure. TCBD

Our stay was short but we really enjoyed ourselves. After having an early breakfast here at the cabin we went over to the New River Trail State Park and hiked for about a mile. Afterwards we went over to Claytor Lake State Park and hiked and picnicked. In the afternoon-after stopping at the Food Lion in Pulaski to pick up steak, salad, and baked potatoes for dinner we just hung out in the cabin and played some Yahtzee (thanks for leaving games here). At dinner we grilled our steaks and just had a wonderful evening—watching 241 (TV series) This is a very nice cabin and it is kept so nice and provided with so much that it really makes you fell at home. God Bless! N & S N

Thanks so much for letting us use the cabin for a weekend. We loved it and the miniature chairs in the upstairs bedroom. This is a great location and we look forward to coming back again!!!! LB, SS, LR, JK, DP

Paige and Tom, Thank you so much for the use of this lovely cabin. We have had a wonderful graduation weekend. And it didn’t rain! We were so busy with graduation that we didn’t get to do a lot of sightseeing so we will be back! Cabin living is so much better than motel living and your place is so beautiful. Happy Mothers Day! The Ls and The Js

Paige and Tom, We really enjoyed your lovely cabin. The weather forecast didn’t look good each day, but they were wrong, and we were able to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail one day, canoe on the New River, and another day went to New River Gorge, although weather was rainy in the afternoon, plus rode bikes at Foster Falls. We had lots of fun. R & H W

Paige and Tom, thanks for having such a nice place for people to stay. We attended the Radford Graduation yesterday, and this made it so nice for us. Maybe someday we sill return for another visit. B & J S

Paige and Tom, My nephew rented the cabin and Trailview for the weekend of RU’s graduation ceremony. This allowed aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course parents and grandparents to celebrate the graduation of my great-niece. We just loved the peaceful accommodations. Hope to return. MC

This has to be the most wonderful place to get away. I was here with other members of my family for my greatniece’s graduation and I have really enjoyed my stay. I sure would love to come back for a longer visit. The peace and quiet is so wonderful. Everything was so nice and clean. EJ

We had a great, memorable week. We did several things we had never attempted or done in awhile such as swing on a porch swing or bike down the Virginia Creeper Trail! My kids haven’t seen much of Virginia’s mountains and my Mother enjoyed seeing and telling her grandchildren all she knew (and the stories she could tell) about them. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect Spring weather—no rain and no freezing cold mornings. Coming from the current heatwave in NC, it was a treat. We didn’t seem to have enough time here, and we have each though of how we would love coming back to this great little cabin in the woods. My kids and I had never stayed in a real log cabin before. I especially enjoyed the satellite TV because it is hard to keep the kids indoors (for a few moments) so I can get them dressed and fed 9age 10, 6, & 2). Some amenities you just can’t do without. Overall we could not have asked for a better place to stay for a great retreat—3 generations to share!

The porch swing and rocking chairs remind me of my grandmom’s when I was little! Could definitely unwind and relax. The sunsets and peace were just what was needed for us to relax and reconnect. We could definitely get used to this. A little piece of heaven right here on earth! Thanks so much! C M

Wonderful place! Thank you very much for all the care and love you put into each corner! We were very sorry to leave after such a short time!

Found this place on the Internet (looking for cabins that take dogs isn’t easy) Glad you accept them! We have sampled many cabins in VA and since our daughter is attending Tech, we are happy to get her away for the weekend. We love the isolated location and the quaintness of your cabin. We are planning to hike at Claytor Lake and New River if the rain lets up! Saw a wild turkey in the back yard and our son found a deer skull, and an old well in the back woods! Since we’re from the “flatlands” of Norfolk, we just love the mountains! Well it’s Sunday morning and sadly we have to pack up and go home—we loved every minute of it and plan to come back! W, T, C, M, & R

Paige and Tom, We had a great stay at your cabin. You provided everything we needed and more. We biked the New River Trail—the weather was perfect and we were the only people biking. I am a Radford University alum, so the cabin is close enough for me to show my children where “Mom” went to college. We will definitely keep this place in mind when we need a few days away! S, E, E, & M W

Hello All, Your cabin is fantastic. It felt like home!! We went for a hike on the New River Bike Trail. The trail head is easy to get to in Allisonia—leave cabin, take right at stop sign, in 2-3 miles you cross the trailhead. Nice walk, easy. Breakfast at Gillies in Blacksburg is the best. I’m a Hokie alum!! Well, plan on us calling back. Thanks for letting pets come, it made our weekend to have the whole family there. J & H

Hi Paige, Again! We were just here in December. Loved it so much that we are trying to buy a home just up the road from here. Without access to your peaceful cabin we would not have discovered the house or the beautiful surroundings. Should we not make the move we’ll be back over and over and will always try to get this cabin. It’s perfect! Thanks so much for all the details that make it like home. Y & R B

Paige and Tom, This little book is just one of your many good ideas! Thank you for the use of this nice cabin! My wife and I enjoyed staying here for a peaceful Valentines Day weekend. It snowed the perfect amount for us to enjoy a snowball fight! We have 3 kids at home waiting to see us, and we never get to get away from it all, so it was very nice! L & C W

Paige and Tom, Thank you both for allowing Brad, Buckeye, and myself to stay at your lovely cabin. We enjoyed a relaxed weekend. We were able to explore Floyd VA yesterday and sit by the fire and play games on both Friday and Saturday nights. We look forward to coming back when it’s warmer with our bikes! Thanks Again, C & B

Paige and Tom, You supplied the perfect retreat for a girl’s weekend! My two best friends “kidnapped” me and brought me to your incredible cabin for a girls birthday weekend. We spent time exploring Claytor Lake, stopping to gaze at some beautiful views, and then traveled to nearby counties to find waterfalls and more amazing mountains. We put your fireplace to good use each night. The only problem was whether to sleep in the cedar room in the back or upstairs in the spacious loft! Thank you so much for having such a relaxing place! We can’t wait to come back. K, J, and A

Thank you! We had the perfect engagement stay created here. Our stay at the cabin was wonderful and we look forward to coming back! Thank you! J & N

Thanksgiving Weekend 2005! Thank you so very much for the use of your cozy cabin! We enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal more than ever—complete with a roaring fire! Our kids loved the loft-what a fun place for them to hang out. We felt like kids again—trying to remember how to play Yahtzee, took us back 30 years! This is the perfect place to get away to and escape the rigors of our daily grind. We hope to be back someday! S, B, D, & C. N.

Absolutely the best location for an incredible cabin. Peacefulness abounds. We relaxed in front of the fire, ate roasted marshmallows, enjoyed the bike trail, went to Blacksburg for our all time favorite pizza-“Backstreet.” The rain on the metal roof was quite calming, while watching the Hokies play in the ACC championship. Thanks for allowing us to stay here and rejuvenate. Hope to be back soon. PS: Thoroughly enjoyed the collection of miniature chairs—lets the mind wander. C, D, and C. E.

Our stay was very enjoyable. You have made the cabin so homey with all your attention to detail. We felt very comfortable here and will likely return in the future. It was also a pleasure doing business with you. The cabin was all we expected and more. We will be happy to recommend it to our friends. Y & R. B.

You have a lovely place and a friendly way of making arrangements. Everything was A+ with lots of extras. We enjoyed canoeing and biking and peace and quiet. We will certainly recommend your cabin to our friends. Thanks, P & M

We had a great time in your lovely cabin. The colors on the trees this weekend were beautiful. Our dogs had so much fun running and playing in the yard. Thank you for letting us use your cozy place. Thank you. D & K

What an absolutely perfect vacation spot to get away to!! Especially at this time of year, with the leaves turning and frosty mornings—we couldn’t have picked a better time to visit our daughter at VT. Go Hokies!!! Since our move, we’ve truly missed this wonderful fall weather….our favorite time of year. Your cabin is charming and the next time we’re visiting we plan on making full use of the fire pit and your huge front porch!! We loved our time here and really wish it could have been for a longer time! Thank you so much! M & W

Thank you so much for allowing us the use of your perfect little cabin. We came for our 5-year anniversary, and it was just the get-away we both needed. We went for a long walk on the New River Bike Trail (in the sleet) and it was so nice to have a cozy place to come back to. Our yellow lab puppy tired himself out (not an easy thing to do!) We enjoyed curling up in front of the fireplace. Thank you again! A & M

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin very much! The kids had a lot of fun. Thanks so much, The B’s

We really enjoyed the weekend. Thanks for your hospitality. We’ll be back. LK.

Thank you for allowing us to feel the joy of living so close to nature. The peace and quiet. Sitting on the decks watching the sunsets, feeling the calmness. The New River has given us great joy and fun. Thank you for a comfortable welcome cabin that feels like home. The B’s

What a perfect weekend! It was like Christmas in October. Not only did I get to stay in this sugar-sweet cabin, but I met my favorite family here. We biked Allisonia to Shot Tower, walked across the trellis bridge, and canoed at dusk. The water was magnificent. We enjoyed star-gazing at the cabin. I will always treasure this weekend as a high Sabbath. Thanks so much for the cool cabin. I couldn’t stop smiling! S. W.

Thank you for a great weekend. We had everything we needed, peace, quiet and a bike trail. The cabin was just perfect. G & K

Hey, this place is awesome!! I love adorable little cabins. This has been a great way to recover from a rough week. I love the Vanilla sugar hand soap, it is my favorite smell ever. It has been wonderful being here because having a broken ankle I can simply relax here and not go anywhere. H.

Thank you for leading us to your little cabin in the woods. Our Great Dane didn’t know what to do with so much space to roam about and guard! The satellite TV was a bonus when we discussed choosing your cabin, but we found the quiet area and fresh air more appealing—we spent most nights on the rocking bench or in front of the grill. Our favorite recipes? Steak and pork ribs seasoned with the cabin’s spices and grilled to perfection! We’re on our way for a second day of fishing. J, R, and B

I grew up in a small farming community, lots of hills, trees, and back roads. My favorite part was the gravel drive covered with over-hanging trees, really nostalgic. It was like returning to the home of my youth. My husband and I celebrated our 20 th anniversary in your cabin and in Hillsville at the VFW flea market. Being able to come “home” after walking all day was wonderful, very relaxing. We loved the privacy and seclusion, very quiet—no cars, no horns and stereos blaring at all hours. The cabin has all anyone could ask for on a weekend getaway. We will be back for the flea market again, I hope your cabin is available. E & J

Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us.  Everything was just perfect.  I don't know of a single thing that could have been better.  The weather was even perfect.  (How did you do that?)  The first day we biked the New River Trail to Pulaski and spent the evening on the front porch reading and enjoying the peace and quiet.  The second day we biked to the Shot Tower State Park and again spent the evening on the porch. G. C.

We had a wonderful three days at the cabin.  We would like to have stayed longer.  We finished riding the New River Trail from Foster Falls to Fries.  The next time we will take the extension to Galax.  The fresh smell of autumn leaves with the crisp early morning temperatures was "Almost Heaven."  Every afternoon was warm with beautiful clear blue skies.   We were even treated to a clear starry sky with a full moon rising over the ridge behind the cabin.  Everything at the cabin was just perfect. We plan on bringing our son and daughter-in-law to the cabin next Spring.  They like to ride bikes, too.  Our son likes to sit by an open fire in the evening, so he will love the fire ring in front of the cabin.  The C's

The cabin was really cozy and private.  We only ventured out three times, went out to dinner and movies.  We bought a lot of DVDs and enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness.  We really got a kick out of the 3 families of deer.  We saw 2 fawns (still had their spots).  They came out about 7:30 each evening.  I really love all the wood in the cabin.        Thank you, T. & B. C.

Thanks for a wonderful get away.  The cabin is more than we hoped for.  It was so peaceful -- just what we needed.  We will recommend it to all our friends that need to get away.    Thanks again, J. & C. H.

Thank you so much for the use of your cabin. Everything was great!  I am glad the hotels in Blacksburg were booked. P.S.  Sometimes your last resort turns out better.  (Save the best for last.) The J’s

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The location is perfect. Out lovable mutt wore herself out each day, with each new adventure! Thanks for letting us visit your cabin! A. & D. B.

Thank you for opening up your cabin to us! We enjoyed discovering the area, and going to the VT Spring football game—knowing we were coming back to a cozy cabin for the evening! Our dogs and family had a wonderful time, Thanks again! Everything was great! C. and D. D.

Thanks for the great cabin. Having such a nice place to stay really made a hectic graduation weekend special. J. & K. G.

We were pleasantly surprised as we drove up Webb Road to our destination. We spent the afternoon on the front porch. Our son even set up his hammock. Our dog was a little unsure at first, but adapted to her new surroundings well. We then explored a little, ate, and returned, made a fire, and ate Smores! Sunday was spent at Claytor Lake State Park, kayaking and hiking and picnicing. We again spent the evening at the cabin, playing board games, sitting around the fire, eating smores once again. What a relaxing weekend, spent far away from phones, computers, and video games. Thank you for sharing your place with us. We have made a wonderful memory, which we will remember always. The cabin is well kept and just great! The I's

Thanks for providing a lovely cabin in a secluded area—just what we needed. The added extras in the cabin, like the games & barbecue & fuel, made it seem more like a home than a rental cabin. And the price was very reasonable for what we got. Also my daughter & I really enjoyed the bike trail. The K's

Thanks for the use of your cabin—we loved sitting on the porch and deck! We grilled out both nights we were here and our dog had a blast running around outside and meeting all the labs next door. We hiked part of the New River Trail on Friday and rented a boat at Claytor Lake on Saturday. The games were a great touch—we enjoyed them vey much. This is a perfct getaway from everything. C. & A. V.

We have had a wonderful time here at your lovely cabin. We have made more memories with our family. We will be talking about them for years to come. Family is so important to keep in touch with especially when you live so far apart. Our family reunion at Claytor Lake was wonderful as well, but my daughter said she had the best time here at the cabin. Thanks again and we look forward to coming again as soon as we can. The J's

We enjoyed our stay at your cabin. This area is so beautiful. It was fun to observe the wildlife—rabbits, turtles, deer, humming birs, whipporwills, groundhog & chipmunk. We were glad to meet you and spend the evening together. See you in October. The H's

We want to thank you for making the cabin feel so comfortable. It’s more like a home than a vacation spot—it’s so very well furnished and has lots of extra creature comforts. I was especially glad to read that you allow dogs. We were not able to bring ours this trip, but our whole family loves them. I will be telling them about your cabin for future trips to this area. Thank you again. H. & D. H.

So nice to meet you. The cabin is beautiful, the scenery great. The people in this area are the nicest I have met anywhere. My sister and I loved it here. The dogs had a blast-felt right at home. Four days was way too short. Will have to do a week next time! S. & D. C.

Just wanted to let you know that we and the dogs LOVED the vacation at your cabin. Such a beautiful cabin, what a setting, so quiet, nice privacy. By the way, what kind of mattress did you have? I have never slept so good and gotten out of bed without a stiff back. Thanks again!! S. C.

Lasting memories of a little cabin in southwest Virginia: spending quality time with friends and family, playing in the snow, hiking in the woods and warming ourselves by the fire. The cabin and surrounding area has a way of making time stand still. Until tomorrow morning when we depart what the clock says is unimportant. That is a great feeling of freedom from the hectic life back home. Great time had by all. J.M.

This place was sweet, even though I almost died like 6 times on the road leading up to Webb Road. But that’s OK because I made it and had a great time…. J. B.

This cabin was very calming and relaxing. We have had an exceptionally nice weekend here. The fireplace was very romantic. I especially enjoyed the lovely mountains. I liked the lady bugs! They bring good luck. We had a great time and we would do it again. J, B, W, & R

Spring peepers, rain on the tin roof, snow, mud, quiet, hikes in the woods, warm fires, peace in the country. What a wonderful romantic and relaxing weekend! J. & A.

Such a wonderful place to bring your family to spend quality time together. The views are spectacular and the rivers are amazing. A fisherman’s paradise even though it rained most of our visit. We have never stayed at a nicer place. Hope we will get back soon, it’s time to pack up! J, N, & J

Waah, Don’t want to leave. THIS is the “ Winter Haven”! We had snow fall, cold weather, sunny skies, cold grey days and fire-warmed nights. Our snowman may stay long enough to greet the next guests. Thanks for a week so relaxing we didn’t even read. Great place for our annual meeting. C&D

IT WAS GREAT! Of course, we had snow, cold, and some nice weather too. It was JUST what we wanted, and the cabin is wonderful. That night they were predicting tons of snow, I got worried that it would not be as deep as predicted, so we went out at about 10 pm and made an awesome snowman. Anyway, thanks for having us! Too much fun….We shall return. C.K.

We had a wonderful time this weekend at your lovely cabin. It was extremely peaceful and allowed for us to just get away from the hoopla of our busy business lives. Myself and 4 other college buddies spent the weekend sharing our upcoming goals and encouraging one another as we proceed into the next phase of our lives. It turned out to be the perfect weekend. Thank you again for the opportunity to use your 'little cabin in the woods'. I'm sure it has many wonderful stories to tell. R.H.

What a beautiful place! There is nothing better than being surrounded by mountains. Hiwassee is lovely, such a peaceful, quiet, and serene small town full of friendly people and breath-taking countryside rich with fun and adventurous things to do. About one mile towards Pulaski on the New River Trail there is a stream on your right. Two trails break off at that point and take you up the mountain. These trails are great for hiking, sightseeing and wildlife sightings. We had a blast this weekend. It was romantic, adventurous and relaxing. It was unforgettable! S.B. & L.D.

Winter greeted us when we arrived on the ninth of Dec. It was one above 0, but made us feel in the Christmas mood along with a nice snow falling. We had family come in and all had such a wonderful time and visit in this perfect setting. We would like to just say thanks for loaning us this wonderful place to stay for the week. J. & J. H.

This is a beautiful homesite in a secluded area. We fully enjoyed ourselves. Sitting by the fireplace, hiking in the woods, or just watching the sunset brought us back to the way life should be—country. This place brings one back to the simpler things in life…quiet solitude, good friends, and the basics of nature. In our fast paced lifestyles, it’s important to take time to “smell the roses.” This is the perfect place to reflect and take time for yourself. D. & T.

I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at the cabin this weekend!  It was just what we needed.  When we arrived on Friday at the cabin, there was an immediate sense of peace and contentment.  Your cabin was such a gift, a safe haven for us, thank you so much for sharing it with us.  A. A.

I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for letting us stay in your cabin the past couple of nights.  My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with the coziness and attention to detail with your decorating style, not to mention the white-glove cleanliness of the cabin when we arrived.  By the way, the trail was excellent!  E. J.

We just returned home from our vacation, and wanted to tell you we enjoyed our 3 day stay in your cabin very much. Everything was very clean and we felt really comfortable. You have a great place to escape to. The view and the open land were fantastic. At night, seeing all the deer come around was enjoyable. We hope everything was left to your satisfaction, because we will return in the near future. Our dog really had a great time running all over the pasture. S. W.

Just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that we had a wonderful time at the cabin. It is lovely! Just exactly what we hoped for. We will certainly be contacting you for trips in the future. It is the perfect location for us: coming from W.Va., from S.C., and from N.C. It's pretty much exactly in the middle. Again, thanks for all your help. You have a lovely little vacation spot there. K. L.

I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the cabin.  We had a wonderful time.  Everything we needed was there-- "it just seemed like home."  I have recommended the cabin to both of my daughters and their husbands.  I hope they can visit sometime.  We are planning to return this spring.  Thank you for making the cabin available.  Oh, we really enjoyed biking and hiking on the trail also. L.W.

We would like to thank you for our stay in your beautiful cabin. We had a wonderful time. Everything was absolutely lovely. We left our part to your cabin--we left a memory book. We hope you and others enjoy it. Thanks again. My 9 year old son wrote in the memory book "this has been the best day of my life!" P. C.

We had an excellent time.  Everything was wonderful.  I've already recommended your place to several folks. Thank you. M.T.
